Engineering Student Services
Faculty advisers serve as academic mentors. They’ll assist you with selecting engineering courses, planning your course of study based upon your goals, finding research opportunities and getting information on your chosen career path.
Your faculty adviser assignment is based upon your major. It’s likely you’ll have the same adviser throughout your undergraduate years at Berkeley. However, due to circumstances such as sabbaticals, your assigned adviser may change. Incoming students learn about how faculty adviser assignments are made at the new student orientation in August. For faculty adviser information (or if you’ve forgotten who your faculty adviser is), contact your department adviser.
Your faculty adviser sets aside office hours to meet one-on-one with students. Check your adviser’s web page for office hours and location. You can also try contacting your adviser via email to set up a meeting. If you have questions regarding faculty office hours or contacting your faculty adviser, see your department adviser.
