Graduate Student Outreach

As a graduate student at UC Berkeley Engineering, you’ll find plenty of outlets for growth and achievement. Your participation in college life and your own contributions to this diverse learning and research community help to shape the college’s global reputation for excellence.

UC Berkeley Engineering provides graduate students with opportunities to expand their network and strengthen connections. We offer workshops and panels on such topics as fellowship applications, preparing for preliminary and qualifying exams, postdoctoral positions and internships abroad. We also support graduate student organizations in their professional development and community building.

NextProf Nexus

NextProf Nexus is an annual workshop designed for 4th+ year PhD candidates, postdoctoral scholars, and early-career professionals in engineering. Co-hosted by UC Berkeley, the University of Michigan, and the Georgia Institute of Technology, this program is part of a collaborative effort to develop future leaders in academia.

This year, NextProf Nexus is August 31 – September 3, 2026, in Atlanta, GA.

GradBridge: Engineering Career Mentoring Circles

GradBridge: Engineering Career Mentoring Circles is a collaborative mentoring initiative between Purdue University and UC Berkeley, designed to connect graduate students and postdocs with experienced mentors, peers, and career insights. Through interactive circles focused on career exploration and professional growth, GradBridge helps participants navigate different career paths in engineering — whether in academia, industry, government, or entrepreneurship.
