A new student center for Berkeley engineers
Berkeley Engineering offers students a truly transformative educational experience, one that puts innovation, entrepreneurship, inclusion, and collaboration at its center. Our new Engineering Center will be a physical space unlike any at Berkeley — a space to support our students and fuel their passion for driving innovation and change.
Encasing the existing Bechtel Engineering Center and overlooking Memorial Glade, the new building will add 35,500 square feet across two new floors. It will provide one-stop access to the programs that help our students succeed — advising, career services, tutoring, academic and social events, and our flagship entrepreneurship activities.

The open, light-filled design will give students a place to gather and collaborate, an open, welcoming space that showcases the vibrancy of Berkeley Engineering. It will reinforce the inclusive, team-oriented culture that is Berkeley Engineering.
The building is scheduled to open in early 2025. The $95 million cost is funded entirely by philanthropy, and the final stages of fundraising for the project continue.
