06/15/20 — The creators of BerkeleyDB have won the 2020 Association for Computing Machinery SIGMOD Systems Award for their "seminal work" on the revolutionary software library.
01/02/20 American Academy of Mechanics — Tarek Zohdi, Chancellor's Professor and Will C. Hall Endowed Chair in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been named the 2019 Fellow of the American Academy of Mechanics. This is an honor accorded to only one person per year in the country.
09/25/19 — Eight Berkeley Engineering graduate students - five from bioengineering, two from computer science and one from energy science - have been named to the Siebel Scholars Foundation's 2020 class.
09/09/19 U.S. News & World Report — Berkeley Engineering's undergraduate program was again ranked third overall and the top public engineering school by U.S. News & World Report. Eight individual engineering programs were ranked among the top 5 in their respective fields, and all were in the top 10.
07/29/19 — Berkeley Engineering has been recognized as an exemplar bronze medalist by the American Society for Engineering Education's (ASEE's) Diversity Recognition Program.
06/25/19 — Two Berkeley Engineering professors - mechanical engineering's Grace Gu and EECS' Raluca Ada Popa - were included in MIT Technology Review's list of “innovators under 35” today. This honor is given annually to technologists whose work has great potential to change the world
05/10/19 — Tyler Chen, a joint major in materials science and bioengineering, is this year's winner of the University Medal, Berkeley's highest honor for graduating seniors. He's also an inventor, a black belt in taekwondo, and a relentless optimist.
04/30/19 Marconi Society — Vasuki Narasimha Swamy (Ph.D. '18 EECS) has been named a 2019 Marconi Society Paul Baran Young Scholar Award for her work to design robust wireless protocol frameworks for ultra-reliable low-latency communications.
04/16/19 Hertz Foundation — Jordan Edmunds, a PhD student in EECS, was named a 2019 Hertz Fellow. He specializes in the fabrication of neural interfaces- tools for studying and interacting with the brain.
02/22/19 — This year, UC Berkeley is recognizing Diane Greene (M.S'88 EECS) with the 2019 Campanile Excellence Achievement Award, as well as Dado and Maria Banatao with the Founders Award.
11/19/18 — This month, Berkeley Engineering dean Tsu-Jae King Liu was honored by the Silicon Valley Engineering Council (SVEC) and Women's Inc. magazine for her trailblazing contributions to research and industry.
