Tsu-Jae King Liu honored for contributions to research and industry

November 19, 2018

This month, Berkeley Engineering dean Tsu-Jae King Liu was honored by the Silicon Valley Engineering Council (SVEC) and Women’s Inc. magazine for her trailblazing contributions to research and industry.

Liu is one of SVEC’s 2019 Hall of Fame inductees. This award recognizes engineers, scientists and technology leaders for their outstanding professional achievement and contributions to Silicon Valley and the greater Bay Area. Previous recipients of this award include Douglas Engelbart, inventor of the computer mouse, and Steve Wozniak, inventor and co-founder of Apple Computer.

As a researcher, Liu has co-authored more than 500 publications and holds 95 patents in the field of integrated-circuit devices and technologies. Currently, her research focuses on nanometer-scale logic and memory devices, advanced materials, process technology and devices for energy-efficient electronics.

Liu is also the co-founder of Progressant Technologies, which was acquired by Synopsys, Inc., where she served as senior director of engineering in the Advanced Technology Group. In 2016, she joined Intel’s board of directors, which has earned her a spot on Women Inc.’s list of the Most Influential Corporate Board Members in 2018.
