09/11/18 — Nearly 70 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers from around the country gathered at UC Berkeley for a three-day workshop designed to strengthen and diversify the next generation of academic leaders in engineering. The event, called NextProf Nexus, is hosted by Berkeley Engineering and Michigan Engineering.

A.M. Turing Award lecture to be livestreamed

05/29/18 HPC Wire — EECS professor emeritus David A. Patterson and former Stanford president John L. Hennessy, who received the 2017 ACM A.M. Turing Award for pioneering a systematic, quantitative approach to the design and evaluation of computer architectures, will jointly present the Turing Award Lecture on June 4 at the International Symposium of Computer Architecture in Los Angeles. The Turing Award lecture is open to the public and will be livestreamed.

But that's what happened at this month's International Solid State Circuits Conference, where Berkeley alum Teresa Meng (M.S.'84, Ph.D.'88 EECS), Stanford professor and Atheros Communications co-founder, addressed “Winning the game in a male-dominated industry.”
