Women in blockchain
Blockchain at Berkeley hosted she(256), the university’s first women in blockchain conference, last
month at Memorial Stadium. One of the main goals of the daylong event was to highlight the leading
work of women in the blockchain space.
EECS professor Dawn Song was one of the conference’s featured speakers on blockchain research. She discussed smart contracts as well as the democratization of artificial intelligence.
Organizers aimed to encourage collaboration among researchers and increase diversity in the blockchain field through the conference. Members of the she(256) team, all UC Berkeley students, included (from left) Cliff Ahn, Elaine Kim, Margaret Valentine, Mashiat Mutmainnah, Alexis Gauba, Sara Reynolds and Medha Kothari.
