Faculty honors and awards

Berkeley Engineering faculty receive the most prestigious awards and honors bestowed by academic and professional societies, foundations and other civic organizations. Among these are nearly six dozen active and emeriti faculty who hold membership in the National Academy of Engineering.

Yablonovitch elected to membership in Royal Society

Eli Yablonovitch, professor of electrical engineering and computer science, is one of two Berkeley scientists elected as 2013 foreign members of the United Kingdom’s distinguished Royal Society, a fellowship of eminent scientists, engineers and technologists.

Cal EECS professor receives prestigious international award

Electrical engineering and computer science professor Eli Yablonovitch is one of two recipients of the 2012 Harvey Prize, a prestigious international award for his “pioneering discoveries in photonics, optoelectronics, and semiconductors.”

Former dean David Hodges honored by Silicon Valley engineers

Physicist Art Rosenfeld to receive National Medal of Technology & Innovation

President Barack Obama has named UC Berkeley and LBNL physicist Arthur Rosenfeld one of this year’s 11 recipients of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. Rosenfeld is often called the “godfather of energy efficiency” because of his pioneering work on reducing the nation’s energy usage.
