Recipients recognized by the UC Berkeley Graduate Division for helping students succeed

The UC Berkeley Graduate Division has announced the 12 recipients of this year’s mentoring awards. These awards recognize select faculty and students for their “outstanding commitment to helping UC Berkeley graduate students succeed academically, professionally and personally.”
The 2024 list of honorees includes five distinguished faculty and students from the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and of Civil and Environmental Engineering:
2024 Carol D. Soc Distinguished Graduate Student Mentoring Awards
Late-Career Faculty Winner
- Allen Goldstein, professor, Departments of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management and of Civil and Environmental Engineering
2024 Faculty Award for Outstanding Mentorship of GSIs
- Kara Nelson, Blum Chancellor’s Chair in Development Engineering and professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
- Lisa Yan, assistant teaching professor, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
2024 Outstanding Graduate Peer Mentor Award
- Myoungseok Kim, Ph.D. student, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
- Federico Mora Rocha, Ph.D. student, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
Award recipients will be honored Wednesday, April 17, 5 – 7 p.m. at the Alumni House, Toll Room.
