US News ranks Berkeley Engineering grad programs No.3 in the nation
Berkeley Engineering holds onto the No. 3 spot of the top graduate engineering schools nationwide, and remains the top public engineering program, according to U.S. News & World Report’s newly published graduate program rankings.
While most of the college’s individual graduate programs retained their 2022 positions, three moved up this year: computer science and environmental engineering both ranked first, while nuclear engineering was ranked third. Civil engineering maintained its first-ranked spot, while all of the other graduate programs remained in the top four. For the second year in a row, U.S. News ranked the graduate program in computer engineering — UC Berkeley ranked No. 2 in this category — separately from computer science.
The magazine based its rankings on responses from 202 engineering schools across the country, including data from fall 2022 and early 2023. In a new development this year, U.S. News included non-responders from the 220 schools surveyed, so long as they reported enough data to be eligible in 2022.
Engineering is in great company. In all, some 60 UC Berkeley graduate programs ranked in the top 10 on this year’s U.S. News list, according to Berkeley News.
