AI in Engineering Education Workshop

  • Graduate student teaching a class
  • Ken Nishimura and Judy Huang talk with the Underwater Robotics student organization

Details & registration

Jarvis Auditorium, Grimes Engineering Center
Oct. 13, 2026
8:30 a.m. – Continental Breakfast
9:00 to 2:00 p.m. – Workshop

Registration is now closed

You are invited to join us for an AI in Engineering Education Workshop intended to explore the opportunities, challenges, and evolving role of artificial intelligence in engineering education, as well as inform and encourage collaboration for a second round of grants from the College of Engineering to support ideas on this topic to be announced.

The workshop will bring together faculty and students for a conversation about how AI is changing the educational experience. Faculty speakers who have successfully secured grants to support AI in education initiatives will share their experiences, projects, and lessons learned. A sequence of panels featuring both students and faculty will then explore the practical realities of AI in the classroom, including the ways it can enhance learning, the challenges it presents, and questions surrounding how we should approach AI in engineering education moving forward.

As part of the workshop, we are also gathering student perspectives through a survey about how students are currently using and thinking about AI in their education. Survey responses will help provide a broader view of student experiences and perspectives and will contribute to the discussion during the workshop.
