Meet the peer advisers
Hello! My name is Amber Chau and I am a fourth year Civil and Environmental Engineering student from San Diego, CA. I am currently part Cal Concrete Canoe, Zeta Tau Alpha, and American Society of Civil Engineers. I will be serving as President this year in ASCE in order to help bring together a CEE community and uniting all organizations under the department. During my free time I go to RSF exercise classes, go hiking or just go out and eat with friends! I also love traveling and exploring new places and thus studied abroad in Summer 2018 taking thermodynamics! This past summer I interned at Lendlease as a project engineer and cost planner. I am super excited to meet new students and I love talking about Cal! Feel free to come by and talk to me!
Hello! My name is Amanda Fazekas and I’m a senior majoring in Bioengineering, with a focus in Biomechanics, from San Diego. At school, I am a member of the Bioengineering Honor Society, SWE, and Cal Band. I am also an undergraduate research assistant in the Berkeley Biomechanics Lab where I do finite element analysis. Last summer I had the opportunity to study and intern abroad through the global internships program in Toronto, and this past summer I was an R&D engineering intern at Medtronic! In my free time I love to hang out with friends, explore San Francisco, practice ballet, and pet dogs. I’m always looking for new foods and activities to try, so come stop by to ask questions or just chat, and I’m really looking forward to meeting you!
Hi! My name is Sharon Hsia and I’m a third-year international student from Taiwan, majoring in Material Science and Engineering. I’m currently a part of the Materials Science and Engineering Association and I’m also doing research in electronic nanomaterials on campus. In my free time, I like to play badminton with my friends, make some desserts, and listen to some chill music. I also love traveling, and fun fact, I’ve visited 3 continents within a month during this summer and it was tiring but amazing! I always enjoy sharing my experiences in Cal and listen to other peoples’ stories, so feel free to come in and talk to me if you have any questions, concerns or anything interesting that you want to share!
Hello! My name is Christina Liveretou and I am senior in Mechanical Engineering. I am originally from Greece, but I grew up in Cyprus and Bulgaria. I have been a member of CalSTAR since sophomore, so designing and building rockets has become a favorite hobby of mine. I also work at the Combustion and Fire Processes lab doing research for NASA’s Spacecraft Fire Safety project. This summer I did research at a combustion lab in Paris, and got to travel around Europe on the weekends! My favorite things to do in my free time include working out at the gym, swimming, hanging out with friends, and climbing trees! I’m looking forward to meeting all the new students, and having an exciting last year at Berkeley!
Hi! My name is Affton Maryland and I am a third year Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) student. I am originally from the South, pick a Southern city and I have most likely lived there. I am currently exploring new clubs so feel free to let me know if you hear about a cool one. In my free time I love to watch Netflix or Hulu, go to the VR gym, or just go out and eat with friends and try new restaurants! I also love traveling and exploring new places. I am always down to meet new students! Come by and talk to me!
Hello! I am Vishrut Rana, a second year IEOR student from Dubai, UAE. On campus, I am involved with the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers and Cal Formula Electric. I also volunteer to mentor middle school students in Math through Bridging Berkeley. During my time off, I am mostly bingeing over a Bollywood movie or developing my rather rudimentary culinary skills. As an international student, my experiences in the past semesters have helped me mature tremendously and I look forward to interacting with my peers to learn about theirs and help where I can!
Hello! My name is Ahad Rauf and I’m an undergraduate senior EECS major and Physics minor (and applying for Ph.D. admissions this year!). I’m passionate about robotics and device physics, and I’m involved in research on MEMS and microrobots in the Swarm Lab. I also serve as the Technology Operations director for the IEEE Student Branch at Berkeley and as a student instructor for the Micromouse DeCal. My hobbies are anime/manga, reading, and hiking, so feel free to stop by and chat with me if you’re interested in any of the above or more. I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming months!
