Mechanical engineering

When did you know that you wanted to become an engineer?  When I was 25 working in my garage, it hit me that I wanted to obtain a higher education that would grant me access to a WAY cooler garage.

Why did you choose Berkeley Engineering?  It’s the fourth-ranked mechanical engineering program and #1 public university in the world. Why would I not want to be here?

Do you often take advantage of programs and offerings of Engineering Student Services?  I try to utilize as much of the resources the ESS offers as possible. Most useful for me has been the tutors, and making appointments with some of the (ESS staff) like Marvin and Tiffany, so that I can get feedback on my resume, networking emails I may be sending out, or general information as well.

What are you working on (projects/research)?  A CubeSat Deployer with STAC (Space Technologies At Cal). As a mechanical engineer on the team, I’m currently designing and building the actuation system that will eject the CubeSats. We have hopes this project will legitimately make it to space!

What else do you do outside of class?  I go to the gym (RSF), try new restaurants and bars with friends, play racquetball, and explore the Bay Area. It’s absolutely beautiful here!

What are your future plans?  I hope to be spending my weekdays designing products that allow people to live a happier life and my weekends out on a lake somewhere with my future family.
