Taking time out of studying to focus on yourself is important and Engineering Student Services is here to help you do just that. Beginning May 4, we will have five events to help you take time for yourself to rest, relax and be mindful of what your body needs to succeed in studying and taking finals the following week. Each event includes snacks and drinks and a chance to take a step back from studying for a few moments. Spring 2020 events are still being planned, however, you can check out what we did last semester below!

Games & pizza

We are breaking out the board games for you to come enjoy, relax and challenge your fellow engineering students. Play a game and enjoy pizza, snacks and drinks

DIY ornaments

De-stress and have fun by making and decorating your own wacky ornament.

Paws before finals
Wednesday, December 11 | Noon - 2:00 p.m. | 240 Bechtel Engineering Center
Did you know just one short pet visit is proven to increase feel-good endorphins and decrease stress levels? You’ll find the most adorable and friendliest therapy dogs! Refreshments will be provided.  Dogs brought to you by Alliance of Therapy Dogs.

Gingerbread house decorating/Holiday I-Mix
Wednesday, December 11 | 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. | Garbarini Lounge
Join the Berkeley International Office and Engineering Student Services for Winter iMix. This fun event includes making a gingerbread house, holiday crafts, delicious treats, and more! Show up promptly to get your gingerbread house and start creating! Snacks and drinks provided.

DIY stress balls

De-stress and have fun by making water bead stress balls. Not only are they great to take away the stress, you'll get to visit with the engineering community and create something fun. 

Dance & karaoke par-TEA
Friday, December 13 | Noon - 4:00 p.m. | 240 Bechtel Engineering Center
Stop by for a dance break, karaoke, boba tea and a raffle. Sponsored by Engineering Student Services and Engineering Wellness Club at Berkeley.

On campus wellness resources

Health Services
Scholars have access to health care via the Universtiy Health Services Tang Center, whether or not they have health insurance. Some services are already covered by summer session fees; others may require a co-payment.

  • Primary Care: appointments for non-urgent concerns, e.g. colds, joint pain, sexual health concerns, skin disorders, etc. ($15 co-payment)
  • Urgent Care: drop-in service for urgent medical problems, e.g. sudden, serious or unexpected illnesses or injuries ($30 co-payment)
  • Specialty Services: pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, physical therapy, and on-site specialists (co-payment varies)
  • Counseling: individual counseling around family and personal relationships, sexual orientation and identity, body image, etc. (five free sessions)

Service hours are Monday to Friday from 8am-5pm; after hours assistance is available.

Recreational Sports Facility (RSF)
All scholars have access to the RSF, which features a pool, weight rooms, basketball and other courts, cardio machines, rowing machines, martial arts, group exercise classes, and much more. Membership cost is included in the campus fee. Visit the RSF to sign up. Service hours are Sunday to Thursday from 6am to 1am; Friday from 6am to 11pm; and Saturday from 8am to 11pm.
