Serafina Alhadad is a second-year industrial engineering and operations research (IEOR) student. She is a graduate of Leland High School in San Jose, California, where she founded a Girl Up chapter — a nonprofit organization that works to help young girls in developing countries — and was also a contributing player to the girls’ basketball team. She is passionate about helping people, and in her spare time she volunteers at local churches, where she works with young teens. Serafina was initially a bioengineering student but eventually switched to IEOR. This year, she will take part in student organizations and will be a mentor for the PREP mentoring program. After graduation, she plans to work in industry.
