Answers from the Mentor:

1. What led you to pursue your current career sector?
I am currently a Senior Scientist in the pharmaceutical industry, where I focus on process engineering, late-stage R&D, and product commercialization. During my doctoral training, I realized I was most energized when science moved beyond discovery and towards real-world solutions. The pharmaceutical industry, particularly in late-stage development and commercialization, offers a unique opportunity to see that translation happen in real time. The work we do directly impacts patients, which brings a strong sense of responsibility and purpose to every project.

2. If you could give one piece of advice to graduate students exploring career options, what would it be?
Earning a graduate degree is not just about deep expertise in a specific topic; it demonstrates that you are capable, resilient, and able to learn quickly. In a world that moves at an incredible pace, the ability to adapt and master new skills quickly is a powerful advantage. Ask questions, meet new people, and explore new opportunities. Don’t feel limited by the specific research focus of your graduate or undergraduate studies. Those experiences are important chapters that shaped your thinking and skills but they do not have to define your future. Stay open-minded and be curious.
