Mayra Rivera

Mayra works with all of the Aerospace Engineering (AE) students, and some of the Mechanical Engineering (ME) students. She can help with a wide range of issues including course selection, academic decision-making, graduation requirements, and college policies. Your ESS Adviser is here to provide support, refer you to campus resources, and help you reach your academic and personal goals to get the most out of your time at UC Berkeley. She can go over your official degree check with you.

UC Berkeley.

How long have you been with the College of Engineering?
Since 2017.

What are your interests?
Tennis, arts & crafts, video games, anime, my cat, and eating 🙂

What is your favorite part of your job?
Meeting with students and helping them navigate their journey at Cal.

What advice do you have for students?
Don’t be afraid to explore new things and ask questions. Talk to your advisers, we are here to help. You are not alone!

What is the most unusual job you’ve had?
My first job was at Daiso, a Japanese dollar store that used to be on Telegraph. I met some of the most interesting people and bought the cutest things. If you have ever shopped here, you know what I mean!

What are your favorite TV Shows?
I don’t have a favorite show right now but I like Supernatural, MasterChef, and a variety of anime. I usually opt to watch movies or play video games instead of watching TV shows but the genres I enjoy the most are sci-fi, fantasy, action, and adventure.

What is your favorite song, band, or type of music?
I like rock, pop, and Latin music but listen to all kinds of music. Some of my favorite artists are U2, Mana, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Shakira, and Juanes. My favorite song is “Beautiful Day” by U2.
