IEOR has robust research activities in Energy that have focused
on a variety of topics including power systems economics, electricity market design, energy and environmental
regulation, demand response, renewables integration, energy risk management, and the development of
computational tools for planning, operation, and analysis of electric power systems. IEOR Department is leading
the campus effort on fusing AI and optimization to deliver a paradigm shift in automated decision making at
massive scales to achieve breakthroughs that neither field can achieve independently. Through the AI Institute for
Advances in Optimization, the IEOR faculty and students tackle societal challenges in renewable energy, logistics
and supply chains, resilience and sustainability.
