Heidi Maqueos’s work has been at the intersection of higher education and access, rooted in ultimately, supporting first-generation and low-income students to gain admission into higher education.
“I came to this work from lived experience of being the first in my family to pursue higher education and navigating being a first-gen and low-income student at Cal. It was my community at Cal that helped me succeed and survive as a student here and recognize that a student’s success must include programs that support a sense of belonging and community.”
Heidi has worked in higher education admissions as an advisor for the past four years, previously at the Online/On-campus MPH (OOMPH) program at UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health where she supported early to mid-career professionals in their admissions process, and most recently with the Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership’s Master of Engineering (MEng) Program. Heidi was born and raised in Los Angeles. She holds a B.A. in American Studies from UC Berkeley. She enjoys creating Spotify playlists and eating ceviche, and you can catch her running in the East Bay.
