Answers from the Mentor:

1. What led you to pursue your current career sector?
My mother was an inspiration to me as a child and she worked as an engineer testing weapons for the US military. While I did not follow the same career exactly, she is a big reason I chose to become a mechanical engineer. The software part of my career came more because of my interest in robots, which I consistently would see from the science fiction media I would consume as a child.

2. If you could give one piece of advice to graduate students exploring career options, what would it be?

Your network is your net worth. Through out my career I have seen the best candidate for a position lose out just because they did not have a personal connection within the company. Just knowing someone internally can put you in the position to be hired.
