Dylan Steury is a second-year bioengineering student. He is from Goshen, Indiana, a small town in the northern part of the state. During high school, he was one of the founding members of the Goshen Youth Caucus, which was a student-led group that aimed to get students involved in local politics. He served as vice president for the caucus, which self-wrote and passed a green resolution, pushing for a 45% tree canopy by 2045 and carbon neutrality by 2035. He loves helping people around him, and he was inspired to become a bioengineer by his former swim coach, who suffers from muscular dystrophy. This year, he is joining some student organizations and is excited to learn more about California. After graduation, he plans to go into industry or get his master’s degree.
Fun fact: I love being outside, but I also love binging a good show. I love swimming and have been competitively swimming for 12 years. Also, yes, if you were wondering—Indiana is very, very flat.
