UC Berkeley Engineering holds onto the No. 3 spot in U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings of undergraduate engineering programs. The college also remains the top public program, tying with Georgia Institute of Technology, also a public university.
The majority of departmental programs continue to place in the top 3. Both civil engineering and electrical engineering shot up to No. 1, up from second place last year. Mechanical engineering moved up to No. 2, while computer engineering leaped up two spots to No. 3. Additionally, industrial engineering moved up to No. 4.
U.S. News includes rankings for both computer engineering and computer science. Both are housed in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, which is shared with the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society. Computer engineering lands at No. 3, while computer science stands firmly at No. 2. U.S. News also includes several subcategories within computer science, with artificial intelligence ranking No. 4 and software engineering at No. 6.
