Berkeley’s graduate engineering programs ranked #3 nationwide
Berkeley Engineering has retained its position among the top three graduate engineering programs nationally in the new annual rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report. In the assessment of 214 engineering graduate schools, UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering had the highest-ranked public university program.
The magazine’s rankings included all of the university’s individual graduate programs in the top 5, with civil engineering and electrical engineering ranking first and chemical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, environmental engineering, industrial engineering and materials engineering all in the top 2. This year, U.S. News included computer science — separate from computer engineering — in its graduate rankings.
The statistical data was collected in fall 2020 and early 2021. Rankings were calculated based on a weighted average of 10 indicators, including peer assessment, recruiter assessment, student selectivity, mean GRE quantitative score, acceptance rate, student-faculty ratios, research activity expenditures and percentage of faculty in the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).
The magazine will release its undergraduate school rankings in September.
