Berkeley Engineering ranked among top three for graduate programs
Berkeley Engineering has maintained its position among the top three graduate programs in new annual rankings released by U.S. News & World Report. In the evaluation of 200 engineering graduate schools, the College of Engineering had the highest-ranked public university program.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings included all of UC Berkeley’s graduate engineering programs in the top 6. Berkeley’s civil engineering, electrical engineering and environmental engineering programs ranked first in the nation, with chemical engineering and computer engineering in the top 2 and industrial engineering, materials engineering and mechanical engineering in the top 3.
The statistical data was collected in fall 2019 and early 2020. Rankings were calculated based on a weighted average of 10 indicators, including peer assessment, recruiter assessment, student selectivity, mean GRE quantitative score, acceptance rate, student-faculty ratios, percentage of faculty in the National Academy of Engineering doctoral degrees awarded, research activity and research expenditures.
The magazine will release its undergraduate school rankings in September.
