Rising ratings for Berkeley Engineering
Continuing a long history of excellence, Berkeley Engineering has again been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best engineering schools in the country and the world. The magazine’s undergraduate rankings for the 2018 academic year place Berkeley’s engineering programs as third — in the United States as well as internationally.
“We are fiercely proud of our tradition of excellence,” says Shankar Sastry, dean of the College of Engineering. “Our faculty, students and staff work extremely hard to stay at the forefront of engineering education. And we do so with the intention of serving society.”
In addition to the college’s overall ranking, individual undergraduate programs were also ranked. Of note, the civil and environmental engineering programs reclaimed the top spots this year, while computer engineering and materials science were each ranked number two. Out of the nine Berkeley Engineering undergraduate programs that were ranked, six moved up, with most landing in the top five.
U.S. News & World Report will release graduate program rankings in March 2018.
