Commencement student speaker auditions

One speaker will be selected for each of the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral ceremonies. Your audition video and a copy of your written speech must be submitted here by Friday, April 5. You will be notified by April 26 if you are selected.

Your speech should:

be four to five minutes
have an original theme that is forward-looking
be optimistic
contain some nostalgia and specific memories or experiences relating to your time at Cal
be relevant to students and their family members from across the College and multiple departments; ensure it is non-technical (no acronyms, technical jargon, etc.) and accessible
be aimed at family and friends as well as fellow graduates

Audition submission details:

Any video longer than 5:30 minutes will not be considered
You do not need to memorize your speech or be in regalia in your video submission

In order to be eligible to audition, you must be registered to participate in the Berkeley Engineering commencement.
