A brighter future
Dear Berkeley Engineering alum,
With the kickoff of the new school year, we have a lot to celebrate at Berkeley Engineering. Our new Engineering Center reached a key construction milestone this summer when the structural phase was completed, commemorated by a “topping out” ceremony on June 14. This capital project has already passed the standard for LEED Gold certification, and we are working toward Platinum to showcase our commitment to sustainable practices from the ground up.
Our college recently welcomed nearly 1,200 new engineering undergraduates at Golden Bear Orientation. Roughly 85% are from California, and the rest collectively hail from 31 other states and 28 other countries, representing a rich diversity of backgrounds and cultures.
We were also happy to see U.S. News and World Report’s latest engineering rankings, where we held the position as the top-ranked public program in the nation and No. 3 overall for both our graduate and undergraduate programs. At the core of our success lies the college’s mission and values that foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, empowering us to excel and contribute positively to society.
Members of our alumni community are also achieving remarkable things, some of which you’ll learn about in this newsletter. I look forward to seeing all we will accomplish collectively this year, to help shape a brighter future for all.
With best wishes — and Go Bears!
