04/04/14 — Berkeley Engineering's newest offering: Executive and Professional Education, extends the college's educational mission by providing non‐degree engineering and leadership education to executives and engineering professionals.
03/19/14 — Backed by a vibrant startup culture that serves as the engine of economic growth for much of the Bay Area, UC Berkeley has established several new programs that support the translation of university research into real-world solutions. One key element is the SkyDeck startup incubator, a collaboration of Berkeley Engineering, the Haas School of Business and the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Research.
03/11/14 U.S. News & World Report — In the U.S. News & World Report rankings of graduate programs released Tuesday, Berkeley Engineering ranked 1st in computer science, environmental engineering, civil engineering, and electrical engineering. Bioengineering moved from 10th to 7th. All programs remain ranked in the top 10.

02/12/14 — The Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore (BEARS) is part of an innovative research model launched in partnership with Singapore's National Research Foundation. The foundation is supporting 10 of the world's best research institutions with ample funding, space and opportunities to scale their investigations beyond the lab.
02/04/14 UNESCO — At its inaugural meeting in Berlin Jan. 30, members of the United Nations Scientific Advisory Board, including Berkeley Engineering Dean Shankar Sastry, vowed to "pull our resources and wisdom together," strengthening cooperation between the scientific community and policy-makers "to put the world on a sustainable path."
01/27/14 Berkeley Research — Costas Spanos, professor of electrical engineering and computer sciences, has been named the fourth director of the multi-campus CITRIS (Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society). Spanos, who joined the Berkeley faculty in 1988, succeeds Paul Wright of mechanical engineering, who has led CITRIS since 2007.
12/23/13 Energy Incentive Program — The College of Engineering topped all other campus operating units in saving electricity in 2013, cutting consumption by more than 1.3 million kilowatt hours and earning a $134,358 incentive rebate. College leaders credited more-efficient light fixtures and sensors and timers that turn off lights and fans when not needed.
11/22/13 — Given the rising tide of emerging technologies and global challenges in energy, health and elsewhere, we are re-inventing engineering education here at Berkeley. Our students are graduating not only with technical depth, but also with practice in hands-on problem solving, team leadership and entrepreneurship. As Berkeley students, they bring an extra dimension to their learning-a passion for the greater good. The latest chapter in this educational transformation commenced in June, with the creation of our Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation.
11/15/13 — A new center now open in Shanghai will strengthen the College of Engineering's research and educational partnerships with academic and industry colleagues in China. The Shanghai Zhangjiang Berkeley Engineering Innovation Center, or Z-BEI, was formally launched in a Nov. 15 ceremony presided over by officials from UC Berkeley, Zhangjiang High-Tech Park and the Shanghai-area government.
