Notes
Chemistry 4A and 12A are intended for students majoring in chemistry or a closely related field. Note: Prerequisites to Chemistry 12A include Chemistry 1A and 1AL and 1B (or 4A and 4B).
Junior transfer admits are exempt from completing BioE 10.
The Humanities/Social Sciences (H/SS) requirement includes two approved reading and composition courses and four additional approved courses, with which a number of specific conditions must be satisfied. Reading and Composition “A” and “B” must be completed by no later than the end of the sophomore year. The remaining courses may be taken at any time during the program. See engineering.berkeley.edu/hss for complete details and a list of approved courses.
This course cannot also be used to fulfill the BioE Elective or MSE Electives requirement.
Students must take one course with ethics content. This may be fulfilled within the Humanities/Social Sciences requirement by taking one of the following courses: BioE 100; Engineering 125, 157AC; Environmental Science, Policy, and Management 161, 162, 162A (only approved if taken Fall 2018); IAS 157AC; Letters and Science 160B; Philosophy 104, 107.
Students must choose one of the following BioE Electives: BioE 110, 111, 114, 115, C117, 121, 124, 150.
Students must choose two of the following MSE Electives: MSE 111, 112, 113, 130.
Students must choose one of the following Bioengineering Design Project and Research Electives: BioE 121L, 140L, 168L, 192, H194, 196.
* A minimum of 120 units is required for graduation.
