New student online orientation

Welcome to the Berkeley Engineering community!

All incoming students are required to complete the College of Engineering Online Orientation before coming to CalSO and before registering for classes. The online orientation will introduce you to your adviser in Engineering Student Services, explain the requirements needed to complete your degree, and assist you in choosing courses for the fall semester.

New freshmen were sent an e-mail on May 10 that included the link to the COE Online Orientation. If you are a freshman and you did not receive the e-mail, you can link to the online orientation below. You may notice that the COE Online Orientation is also on your CalCentral task list.  Please note: Freshmen should complete online orientation by May 27. Once you complete online orientation, it will take at least 5 days for it to reflect as completed on your task list.

New transfer students received an e-mail that included the link to the transfer student online orientation on June 8.  You can also link to the online orientation below. Transfer students attending the June 14 CalSO should plan to complete the COE Online Orientation no later than June 12. Transfer students who are attending the June 20 CalSO, or who are not attending CalSO, will be expected to complete the online orientation by June 15. Once you complete online orientation, it may take up to a week for it to reflect as completed on your CalCentral task list.

Please note: If you are unable to attend CalSO, please complete the online orientation as soon as possible and your ESS Adviser will contact you in late-June to review your proposed schedule and explain the timeline for enrolling in courses.  You will not be able to enroll in courses until you have completed the COE Online Orientation.

New students are not able to make an appointment with their ESS Adviser until after July 5th. Before making an appointment to see their ESS Adviser all new freshmen and transfer students should have attended a CalSO session, or if they are not attending CalSO, must have completed the online orientation and submitted their proposed academic plan.
