Beyond campus

There are few campuses in the world that are surrounded by so many possibilities for recreation, culture and entertainment as Berkeley. It’s hard to imagine a more stimulating environment for an aspiring engineer.

The city of Berkeley and the East Bay region are an epicenter for music, outdoor activities, artistic expression and political movements. This is where you can explore Tilden Park’s 2,079 acres of beauty, find the famed Gourmet Ghetto and experience the innovative Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Maybe take up windsurfing. Or catch a home game for the A’s or Warriors. Whatever your interest, you'll find that the people, places and diversions in this area always offer something new and surprising.

The campus is just a bridge (or BART ride) across the bay from San Francisco, one of the world’s most cosmopolitan and forward-thinking cities. And it’s just about an hour’s drive from Silicon Valley, the beaches of Marin and the vineyards of the Napa and Sonoma valleys.
